Winona MatthewsRaymondWinona Rose Wyman Matthews passed away on November 25, 2016, at her home in Raymond, MS, surrounded by family and caregivers. She was 98 years old.Winona was born on August 24, 1918, in Shreveport, LA. She was the second child born to William H. and Nona Wyman. The older brother, Millard F. Wyman, predeceased Winona , as have her parents and her husband.She is survived by her three children; Melanie Matthews Anthony, Ashville, NC; William H. Matthews, (Carol), 0f Ashville, NC; John Richard Matthews (Cathy), of Owenton, KY; and a nephew, Joe R. Wyman, (Lisa) of San Francisco, CA. In addition she had 3 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend loving appreciation to the people of Raymond, and especially to the four caregivers, who loved Winona through the last several years: Mary Wansley; Ollie Herring; Mary Dixon; and Becky Laney. And a special thanks to her long-time friend, Martha Ferguson.Funeral services will be 2:00pm Wednesday November 30, 2016 at Raymond United Methodist Church, preceded by visitation from 12:00pm to 1:45pm.Memorial contributions may be made to Raymond United Methodist Church, P.O.
