Wolfgang D. ScholzDecember 26, 1937 - July 17, 2016Wolfgang D. Scholz passed away on July 17, 2016. Wolfgang was born on December 26, 1937 in Hamburg Germany to Ernst Otto and Anii Wesch Scholz. In 1957 he immigrated to America and joined the U.S. Army in 1958. He was stationed in Germany where he worked as a truck driver and was honorably discharged in 1962. He became a journeyman machinist and worked for ELMCO, Ball Manufacturing in Salt Lake City, Bucyrus Erie and then J.R. Simplot in Pocatlelo until his retirement. After Wolfgang returned to the U.S. he met and married Shirley Rogers in August 17, 1964 in Elko Nevada. They resided in Salt Lake City, Utah, Bountiful, Utah and then made Pocatello, Idaho their home. Wolfgang was active in the NRA and was a coach for the Gate City Soccer League. He also enjoyed karaoke, fishing, boating, camping, stamp & coin collecting and electric trains.Wolfgang is survived by his daughters Lorita Kahn (Jerry) of Idaho Falls, ID; Kristina Scholz (Terry Brower) of Pocatello, ID; Cinthia Latimer (Brandon) of Pocatello, ID; son Douglas (Carolyn) Scholz of Blackfoot, ID; granddaughters Stephanie, Ashley, Shalena and Samantha; grandsons Jerry (III), Michael, Hunter, and Jeremy; 5 great grandchildren; brother Gerd Scholz of Hamburg, Germany; and sister Arianne Meyer of Hamburg, Germany.Wolfgang was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, his parents, and his brothers Carl Heinz and Manford.Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.wilksfuneralhome.com
