Wuyatta Sellu, of Germantown, MD aged 40, went to be with the Lord on May 8th, 2021. Born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, on August 10th 1980, Wuyatta was the daughter of the late Abraham Kai Sellu Sr & Elmira Sellu.
Wuyatta’s smile is forever imprinted in our hearts. Her bubbly laugh and quick wit matched her loving embrace. Wuyatta genuinely cared for people, and never met a stranger. She made life-long friends wherever she went, and she made a point of keeping in touch with them.
Wuyatta went to Mereweather Elementary School, The Annie Walsh Memorial School & The Albert Academy in Freetown, Sierra Leone. In the US, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Psychology from Lebanon Valley College in Annville, PA in 2004. She then obtained her Associates Nursing Degree from Montgomery College, MD in 2008.
Her career as a nurse was her passion and Wuyatta took a lot of pride in caring for others in need. She was a staff nurse at Washington Adventist Hospital, Holy Cross Hospital, and Celtic Healthcare. She then worked as a charge nurse at Friend’s Nursing Home, before becoming a Nursing supervisor at Celtic Healthcare. Most recently, she worked for Adventist Home Health, where she was also a clinical supervisor. She was a student at Chamberlin University, nearing completion of her BSN program.
