Yvonne Marie Burns affectionately known as Von was born on April 03,1942 in Chicago, IL to her mother Erma M Williams and father Thomas M Gore. Both parents preceded her in death. Her father l, Lucious W Williams who raised her, also preceded her in death.
Von gave her life to Christ at an early age and became a member of United Baptist Church where she served as an active member. She grew up in K-town where she attended Hughes Grammar School and Farragut High School. Von was well known in K-town because of her love for sports and dancing. She played many sports and danced at the field house along side of her best friend Jetuan Reddit who preceded her in death.
Von in her later years still loved to step and she was one of the best at it. She was always the life of the party. She showed her love by randomly calling you to say hi but the call would last for hours. Von was the rock and glue of her family. She wasted no time stepping in and taking the mother’s role.
Von was determined after her 1st stroke to walk again and gain her independence back. She was a true fighter up until her last breath. On Tuesday, May 28, 2019 God called her home and told her job well done.
Von leaves to cherish her memories; Her two daughters, Trina D Agee and Roshonda M Castey; five grandchildren, Teiara S Jackson, Brittney L Jackson, Cieara L Jackson, Shakia M Stanton and Terrance T Stanton; eighth great grandchildren, Dniyah, Dandria, Jamarion, Sabriya, Tyshun, Terance, Kamiyah, JoeJoe; two sisters, Tanja and Tavia; three brothers, Ralph, Brennan and Ronald; a host of other family members and friends.
