Zane Gray MurrayMars Hill - Zane Gray Murray was born on July 10, 1938 in Mars Hill, NC to Guy and Edna (Ammons) Murray. He passed away on September 21, 2017 in Hinton, OK at the age of 79. Zane was born and raised in North Carolina and attended Flat Creek Schools. He served in the
US Marine Corps. He met and married Linda Tate in 1960 in Asheville, NC. They moved to Washington DC where Zane worked for RC Cola. He worked at the Cherokee Trading Post in Budd Lake, NJ on the weekends, while working on weekdays for the NJ State Forestry Department. They moved to Calumet, OK in 1976. Zane moved back to NC in 1980. He worked for the Northern Southern Railroad, the Telephone Company, and in construction with his brother in the house building industry. He also worked as a wagon master, working for a chuck wagon on weekend trail rides. Zane has always been involved in the tobacco growing family business. Zane enjoyed hunting, an avid fisherman, and watching football. He was a 32nd degree Mason, member of Piney Mountain Baptist Church in Weaverville, NC, where he was baptized as a child. He was a born again Christian and he had surrendered and rededicated his life to the Lord in 2016. Zane was a man that enjoyed life to the fullest and loved his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Edna Murray, his son, Zane Gregory Murray, his granddaughter, Ashley Toho, and his brother, Harley Murray.Survivors Include: his children, Teresa Crick and husband Fred of Hinton, OK, and Pam Toho and husband Frankie of Hinton, OK, Jared Toho and wife Kaelie of Hinton, OK, Jessica Nance and husband Landon of El Reno, OK, Josh Toho and wife Whitney of El Reno, OK, Caleb Crick and wife Lauren of Hinton, OK, and Dr. Luke Toho of Visalia, CA, great grandchildren, Brayden, Sophie, Carson, Cruz, Addison, Leti, Jaedon, Cross, and Lane, his siblings, Billy Murray and wife Gail, Russell Murray, and Robbie Jean Payne all of Weaverville, NC, many nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as many other relatives and friends.Memorial Services: Piney Mountain Baptist Church, Friday, 10:00 AM, September 29, 2017, Weaverville, NCOfficiating: Pastor Steve Freeman Services entrusted to Turner Funeral Home, Hinton, Oklahoma.
