Zulma Velez Williams, 70, passed away suddenly on October 29, 2016. She was the beloved spouse of Mark Williams for over 37 wonderful years. Zulma was born on December 9, 1945 in La Ceiba, Honduras and was the oldest of the eight children of the late Cesar Augusto Velez and Amparo Lanza. She was predeceased by her brother, Cesar Velez. Zulma is survived by her brothers Jose Raul Velez and Juan Carlos Velez, and by her sisters Enma Vilca, Patricia Oviedo, Hilma Sanchez, and Dalila Velez. She was an active member of Ascension Of Our Lord Catholic Church in La Place, including serving for many years as an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist, a regular weekly Adoration Chapel adorer, and as a parish volunteer to the St. John Civil Parish Ministry of Care. Zulma also helped clean and restore the large wooden Stations of the Cross for the new church. She recently started a weekly prayer group, along with her husband, to pray the Rosary. Zulma had several hobbies. She loved to make fine jewelry to give away as gifts to her friends and relatives. She enjoyed listening to and dancing to virtually all types of music. Zulma was a very kind and caring person to whomever she met and was loved by virtually everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by all those she touched during her lifetime, especially her husband. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Thursday, November 10th at noon at Ascension Of Our Lord Catholic Church, 1900 Greenwood Drive, La Place. Visitation will begin at 10AM at the church.
