Alfred "Frank" Diplock, age 86, of Oscoda died on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at his home. He was born on Feb. 4, 1923, in Detroit to the late Alfred and Annie (nee Wood) Diplock. Frank served in the United States Navy during World War II as a gunners mate. He then pursued a career in printing as a union typesetter in the Detroit area. Former employers include Arnold Power Printing and TP Henry Companies. Frank retired and moved to the Oscoda area nearly 20 years ago. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Frank enjoyed fly fishing, woodworking, building model boats and he loved to draw, as he was quite an artist. He is survived by his very special friend, his beloved Millie Lee; three sons, Woody (Gaye) Jones of Aubrey, Texas, Bill Diplock of Dearborn Heights and John (Kelley) Diplock of Imlay City; and two daughters, Joanne (Doug) Polzien of Lake Linden and Linda (Bob) Gregg of Grand Rapids. Frank is also survived by 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Donna Rivard. The family will receive friends today (Wednesday) from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at Buresh Funeral Home in Oscoda.
