Bernice K. NicholsonLexingtonBernice Katherine Nicholson, age 81, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at McLaren Port Huron Hospital.     She was born on March 21, 1936 in Detroit, daughter of the late Gus and Mary (Carajohn) Polites.  Bernice married Christ Nicholson, Jr. on July 1, 1966 in East Detroit.  He preceded her in death on November 11, 2015.     She attended Fordson High School in Dearborn, and graduated from SC4 Magna Cum Laude, and Michigan State University Magna Cum Laude.  She received her Masters Degree from Oakland University.  Bernice taught and retired from Port Huron Area School District.     She enjoyed music, playing piano, and painting.  Bernice also enjoyed playing golf.  She was a member of the Order of Easter Star chapter #236,  and  was an active member of the Lexington United Methodists Church, the United Methodist Women, and  the church Bell Choir.     Bernice is survived by  two sons  Courtney  Nicholson of Melvindale; Clinton Nicholson  of Detroit, and  two daughters Marlyss Nicholson of CA, and Nikkkea "Marlene"  (James) Todd of Lexington; 4 grandchildren, Josh Bomar, Robin Bomar, Alex Randolph, and Lance Cameron; and 3 great grandchildren, Dimitri Jones, Brooklyn Reynolds, and Levi Bomar.     She was preceded in death by her sister Urania Carr.     Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Tuesday at the Lexington U. Methodist Church.  Rev. David Gladstone will officiate.  Burial will be in the Lexington Cemetery.     Friends may call from 2-9 PM Monday at the Pomeroy Funeral Home, Lexington, and from 10-11 AM Tuesday at the church.     Memorials may be made to the Lexington U.
