Mrs. Blanche T. Rumptz, 94, life long resident of the Ubly area, passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017. She was born on Oct. 20, 1922, in Paris Township, to the late Leo and Helen (Murray) Maurer. She married Archie H. Rumptz on Oct. 25, 1941, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Smith Corners. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2011. Blanche worked at Thumb Electric for over 40 years. She and her husband, Archie, loved to bowl. She was a very active parishioner at Good Shepherd Parish in Ubly, where she was a Eucharistic Minister, Catechist, Lay Minister and past president and long time member of the St. John Christian Mothers. Blanche loved playing cards, golfing, dancing and spending time with her grandchildren. Blanche is survived by one daughter, Carol Lemke of Ubly; one son, Gary (Kathy) Rumptz of Ubly; eight grandchildren, Alger (Kim) Lemke, Gregory Lemke, Jeffery (Lisa) Lemke, Paul (MariAnn) Lemke, Gary (Allison) Rumptz Jr., Nicole (Michael) Smith, Cynthia Marfia, Travis Rumptz; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Leta Duda of Mt. Clemens, Norine Williamson of Sterling Heights, Dorothy (Larry) Zurek of Clinton Township; two sisters-in-law, Lila Maurer of Ubly and Vivian Rumptz of Ubly; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Eugene Lemke; two brothers, Ervin and Linus "Mike" Maurer; two brothers-in-law, George Duda and Edward Williamson; and one sister-in-law, Virginia Maurer. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8 at St. John Catholic Church of Good Shepherd Parish in Ubly. Rev. Charles Hammond, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday, at St. John Church. There will be a Christian Mothers rosary 4 p.m. Tuesday and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. Both services will be at the funeral home. Please visit
