Bonnie Bell McCauley of South Branch passed away on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 at the Bay Regional Medical Center in Bay City, age 72 years. Bonnie was born on April 23, 1941 in Loon Lake, Hale, to Elmer and Ruth (Billings) Bowers Sr. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw then attended Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant where she earned both her Bachelor's degree and Master's degree of Science in education. She was employed through the Pinconning Area Schools from 1963-1965 as a science and biology teacher. Bonnie was also a co-owner of Camp Grand Resort in Long Lake from 1964 to 1977. She then became employed as a Star Route mail contractor for 18 years from 1982 to 2000 in the Long Lake and South Branch areas. Bonnie most recently was employed by Hale United Methodist Church as a secretary where she worked part time from 1964 to 2000 and full time from 2002 to 2004. Bonnie was a member of the Audubon Society and also a treasurer of the UNW at Hale United Methodist Church. She married Jerry Ward McCauley on June 20, 1964 at Hale United Methodist Church and together they celebrated 49 beautiful years of marriage. Bonnie is survived by her beloved husband, Jerry Ward McCauley of South Branch; one loving daughter, Robin Elaine McCauley Vance (fiancé Davide Calzolari); one granddaughter, Morgan Rose Vance; one sister-in-law, Alice Dymond of Roscommon; two brothers-in-law, Benjamin (Celia) McCauley of Sacramento, Calif. and Daniel (Mary) McCauley Jr. of Saginaw; many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Ruth Bowers Sr.; one sister, R. Elaine Bowers McLaren; three brothers, Elmer L. Bowers Jr., Walter Bowers and William Bowers. Funeral services were held on Monday, Sept. 16 at Hale United Methodist Church with Pastor David Goudie officiating. Interment took place in Esmond Evergreen Cemetery in Hale.
