Carol Ann SumerixEaton Rapids, MICarol Ann Sumerix, 71, of Eaton Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on October 19, 2017 at her residence in Eaton Rapids, MI. She was born on April 25, 1946 to Gaylord and Margaret (Root) Fisher. She graduated from Charlotte High School. On May 8, 1965 she married Lynn Sumerix in Charlotte, MI. Carol grew up in Charlotte as a member of the Root and Fisher families. Her great-great-grandfather Fisher was an early settler in Eaton County who moved here from the state of Vermont. He was credited as one of the founders of Vermtonville, Michigan!Mrs. Sumerix was a warm-hearted woman with a "bubbly" laugh. She loved to be around family and friends. Her actions were always based on kindness and helping others. She was a "Correspondence Queen," always sending a thank-you to those who had shown a kindness towards her and her family. One of her favorite things to do was to send "Secret Birthday Cards" to friends, always sent anonymously to surprise others. Time spent with her friends, Doris and Joyce, were always a treat. Her husband, Lynn, refereed to Carol as a "beautiful person." He would joke with her that "she had a small mouth, but she sure did talk a lot!" Lynn was so appreciative of her ability to make a wonderful home for him and their son Tyler. She was an advocate for Tyler's special needs throughout his school years. Her proudest accomplishments are Tyler's abilities and accomplishments. Above all her favorite times were spent just being together with her husband of 52 years, Lynn. As hobbies Carol loved quilting, cross-stitch, and feeding the wild birds that visited their backyard. Together with her husband they tended their many perennial flower beds around their home.Carol is survived by her husband Lynn; son, Tyler Sumerix of TX; and her two sisters, Joanne Tinsley and Brenda Apt. Lynn and Tyler would like to express their appreciation to their neighbor Martha Smart for being so helpful during Lynn's health challenges, and Carol's death.Due to her husband Lynn's health challenges and recuperation, graveside services will be at a later date at Maple Hill Cemetery.
