Catherine C. (Katy) LockeFort GratiotCatherine C. (Katy) Locke, age 84, of Fort Gratiot, passed away on May 27, 2017, with her family by her side.She was born on March 24, 1933, in Highland Park to the late Frederick and Bessie Marsh.Katy married Fred Locke on March 5, 1954, in East Lansing.She graduated from Royal Oak High School, attended Michigan State University but received her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Eastern Michigan University. From 1967 to 1995, Katy taught in the Trenton and Port Huron Area School Districts. She was a member of multiple organizations such as, Delta Kappa Gamma, American Association of University Women, Lakeshore Presbyterian Church - Fort Gratiot, and a former member of the Sarnia Yacht Club, Port Huron Yacht Club and Great Lakes Cruising Club. She and her husband, Fred, spent 63 years of marriage together. They were active sailors and cruised the Great Lakes and spent a year cruising the Atlantic down into the Southern Caribbean.Katy is survived by her husband, Fred Locke of Fort Gratiot, daughter and son-in-law, Dianne (Kevin) Sura of Fort Gratiot, son and daughter-in-law, Robert (Rose) Locke of Fort Gratiot, grandson, Sean Locke of Fort Gratiot, granddaughter, Amber Locke of Hamtramck, brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald (Sharon) Marsh of Grand Rapids and Douglas (Betty) Marsh of Jackson, sister-in-law, Linda Bushre of White Lake, brother-in-law, Alan Roberts of Dallas, Texas and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her brother, Frederick Marsh II, sister, Barbara Roberts and aunt, Isabel Benson.Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017, in the Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Avenue, Port Huron. Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate. Visiting hours will be Friday, June 9, 2017 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and Saturday, June 10, 2017 from 10:00am until the time of services at 11:00am.Memorial tributes may be made to the American Association of University Women.To view the obituary and share memories, please visit
