Charlotte Ann (Wachtl) GrapBattle Creek Charlotte Ann (Wachtl) Grap, 92, of Battle Creek, died at Boschway Adult Foster Care Home on May 5. Charlotte was born on January 25, 1925 in Wausau, Wisconsin, the daughter of James B. and Nora (Hayes) Wachtl. She was raised in Wausau and was a 1943 graduate of Wausau High School. Charlotte was united in marriage to Clarence Leo Grap on January 25, 1949 in Wausau. In 1961, they moved to Racine, Wisconsin, to Decatur, Illinois in 1964, and then to Peoria, Illinois in 1970, where she resided for 45 years, until moving to Battle Creek in 2015. She was employed as a secretary at Employers Mutual Insurance Company in Wausau, Peoria Public Schools and Ruppman Marketing. Charlotte and her husband served two years in the Peace Corps on the island of Anguilla in the Eastern Caribbean, where she was a teacher. She was an active member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Peoria for many years, and a member of Rosary Guild. She was currently a member of St. Philip Catholic Church in Battle Creek. After 51 years of marriage, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clare on September 29, 2000. Surviving are: her son, John (Linda) Grap of Battle Creek; daughter, Jeanne Grap of Champaign, Illinois; son, Paul Grap of Natural Bridge, Virginia; and grandchildren, Sean (Tanya) Grap and Matthew Grap. In addition to her husband, Charlotte was also preceded in death by father and mother, brother and sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Simon Chummar-Manjooran on Friday, May 12 at 1pm at St. Philip Catholic Church. The Rosary will be recited in the church at noon, and the family will receive friends in the church vestibule after the Rosary and prior to Mass. A private service of Committal and interment will be held later at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial to St. Philip Catholic Church or a .
