Clementine Juanita Reed, age 90, passed away peacefully January 06, 2022, due to Covid-19 and congestive heart failure. She was born January 20, 1932, in Covington, Tennessee to Russell Jr. and Annie Greene who both preceded her in death in 1990. She eloped and married her longtime friend and love, Robert Nathaniel Reed, in October of 1953 who preceded her in death in 2020.
Clementine loved to love on people. Her hands were rarely still as she loved to make her raggedy Anne dolls and sale them at the local flee market in Detroit. She also shared her love with food such as lasagna and fried chicken with her three granddaughters.
For many years Clementine worked at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. It suited her servant and caring heart. She said she did it because of an important promise she made to her grandfather, Russell Greene Sr. He used to always say: “Do what’s right the first time and strive to do what’s good. Be kind and remember to help others. The world can always use one kinder person like yourself. If you can take it one step further baby, please do it for people your grandfather’s age. And pass this down to those after you in our family.”
Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
Clementine is survived by her only sister and her husband Mary and Joseph King of West Bloomfield Hills Michigan; her only daughter Bettye Love of Clermont Florida; three granddaughters and their husbands LaToya and Bernard Bonner of Dearborn Heights Michigan, Anya and Aaron Brown of Dearborn Heights, Michigan and Shalonda and Kevin Riley of Brownstown Michigan; plus 3 great grandchildren and her many nephews, nieces, and friends. All these who she loved and touched deeply.
