Dorothy M. Wilson, a resident of Tawas City passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 at the Iosco County Medical Care Facility, Tawas City. She was 95 years old. Dorothy was born on March 29, 1917 in Chicago, Ill. to the late John and Jessie Mathieson. She was a graduate of Calumet High School in Chicago and was later employed by Illinois Bell Telephone, Walgreen's Drugstore and Marshall Fields. During World War II, she was actively involved with the American Red Cross. Dorothy met and married her husband of 61 years, Joseph E. Wilson, while living in Chicago. Her interests involved gardening, reading, hiking, crossword puzzles and art. Over the years she was a member of Tawas Area Lionesses, Tawas City Garden Club and a member of the Methodist church. She devoted much of her time and energy to volunteer work and as a caregiver to family members. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Griffin of Tawas City; a sister, Evelyn Way of Medford, Ore.;, her grandson, Andy Griffin, and his wife, Bobbie Griffin of Oscoda; and two great grandchildren, Kyle and Dani Griffin of Oscoda. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Wilson; and her son, Joseph Donald Wilson. Private arrangements were handled through Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City.
