Dorothy Pokora, 95, of Bad Axe, formerly of Ubly, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016.Dorothy was born on May 24, 1921, in Rapson, daughter of the late Henry and Matilda (Uller) Eland. She married Bernard Pokora on Oct. 5, 1946, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rapson. He preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 1974. Dorothy is survived by two sons, Thomas (Debbie) Pokora of Flushing and David (Ann) Pokora of LaPlata, Maryland; five daughters, Frances (Ronald) Kranz of Washington, Marlene (Arthur) Romzek of Tawas City, Janice (Calvin) Dekoski of Ruth, Cynthia Romzek of Ubly and Mary (Arnie) Eggert of Port Hope; 21 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson.She was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol Jean Pokora; one son-in-law, Gary Bismack; two sisters, Elizabeth Cowie and Margaret Bollaert; seven brothers, Leonard, William, John, Henry, Frank, Raymond and Edward Elandt.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, at Good Shepherd Parish-St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. Officiating will be Fr. Charlie Hammond, pastor. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Parisville. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the church.
