Earl Arthur RoseberryTraverse CityEarl Arthur Roseberry, 81, of Traverse City, formerly of DeWitt passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Munson Hospice House. Earl was born on February 19, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Earl and Ethelyn (Goodwin) Roseberry. He married the love of his life, Elberta Schascheck on August 4, 1962 in Kalamazoo. Earl proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. After earning his Master's Degree from Western Michigan University, he became a teacher and Assistant Principal for Battle Creek Public Schools and later a principal with DeWitt Middle School, retiring in 1993 after over 30 years of service. He was very proud of DeWitt Middle School and in 1989 the school received an award as one of "Michigan's Exemplary Schools by the Michigan State Board of Education." "Walleye Earl" and his family spent countless summers at Leelanau Pines Campground on Lake Leelanau. He moved to Traverse City in 2000, Earl attended Bethlehem Lutheran Church, enjoyed boating, fishing and playing golf. He was a fan of NASCAR with his favorite driver being Jeff Gordon. Above all spending time with his family was his greatest joy. Earl is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Elberta, a daughter Susan (Pat) Burton, two sons; Andrew Roseberry and Michael Roseberry. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joann Cotant. A memorial service honoring Earl will take place at 11:00 a.m., with visiting one hour prior, on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1050 Peninsula Dr. Traverse City, Michigan 49686.
