Rafferty, Elizabeth Lise 78 of San Mateo, CA, passed away on May 11, 2017, at her home. Lise was born on January 27, 1939 in Montreal, Canada, and was the youngest of ten children. She was the daughter of Raoul Major and Rosa Levace. Lise became a registered nurse in Montreal at the age of 20, and then moved to New York City at the age of 21 to become a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines (which was looking for bilingual attendants for New York City-Montreal flights). Soon after moving to New York, Lise met her future husband John Andrew Rafferty, and they remained married for 50 years until John died in 2012. Lise attended Columbia University and later received bachelor and master degrees from the University of Maryland. Lise moved to San Mateo five years ago from Arizona, where she had lived for 33 years, to spend more time with her granddaughters. Lise is survived by her son John, her daughter-in-law Holli, her granddaughters Ella and Caroline, her sisters Gisele and Janet, and her brother Rene. Funeral services are private.
