Elsie L. (Martin) MazzeiBattle Creek     Elsie L. (Martin) Mazzei, 93, of Battle Creek died peacefully at Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence on Thursday, May 4, 2017.      She was born on February 5, 1924 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Henry and Elizabeth (Cartledge) Martin.  Elsie grew up in Battle Creek and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School.       Elsie married Harold E. Mazzei on January 25, 1944 in Denver, Colorado. They celebrated 65 years together before he passed in 2009. Surviving are two daughters, Carol A. (Steve) Belson of Ceresco, MI, Alicia S. (Danny) Simons of Richmond, KY; a son, David E. (Kristine) Mazzei of Waterford, MI; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; and a brother, Henry Martin of St. Petersburg, Florida.  In addition to her husband, Elsie was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ann and Edna Martin and a brother, Arthur Martin.      Elsie was a woman of many talents. She had an artistic eye and enjoyed decorating her home and making it just so. Gardening was also one of her talents. She loved being in her yard, planting flowers and vegetables, tending to her many birdfeeders or simply having an afternoon cup of tea.   She also crocheted and wrote poetry.  Her true passion though, was her family. She often visited her daughter in Kentucky and went on fishing trips to Canada with her son and grandchildren, or stayed home to attend to the many grandchildren that lived locally. She spent her life being a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.      Friends will be received 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, where funeral services will be officiated by Rev. Robert G. Muirhead at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2017.  Committal and interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.      Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of S.W.
