Florence Ellen Braden-Baker, of National City passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, age 78 years.Florence was born on Aug. 13, 1933 in Corryton, Tenn. to Harvey and Lora (Bussell) Braden. She was employed as a manager of a lounge for many years. After she and her husband, Keith, moved to the Sand Lake area, she stayed at home and was truly a loving housewife. Those who knew Florence will always remember how she truly enjoyed traveling, fishing and hunting. Most of all, she adored her family and cherished all the time spent together. Florence was a long time member of the Hazel Park FOE. She is survived by her beloved husband of 31 years, Keith ""Skip"" Baker of National City; four loving children, Brenda (Tom) Stevenson of Sterling Heights, Timothy (Carolyn) Arwood of Bridgeport, Texas, Lynn Buchanan of Lissle, Ill. and Susan (Cindy) Pickering of Beaverton; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; three sisters, Minnie Faulkner of Corryton, Tenn., Mildred Sing of Knoxville, Tenn. and Wilma Phillips of Dalton, Ga.; and several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Florance was preceded in death by four brothers, Troy, Johnny, Fred and Oscar Braden. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, June 16 at 11 a.m. at the Sand Lake Heights Community Center in Sand Lake with Neil Oaks officiating. A burial of her cremated remains will take place in Taylors Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Sharps Chapel, Tenn. on June 23 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tawas St. Joseph Hospice in her honor.
