Florence Terese Stock, age 88, of Oscoda, formerly of Tawas, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2014 at her home with her family by her side. She was born on July 23, 1925 in Detroit to the late Raymond and Florence Altenburg (nee Johnstone). Florence graduated from Berkley High School and also attended Delta College. She was also very proud of her time served in the Canadian Women's Army Corps (CWAC) during World War II. Florence worked many jobs over the years, but being a home maker and taking care of her family was the most important to her. She was a member of the Tawas Bay Artists, the Square Dancing Club and the Senior Citizen Club in Oscoda. Florence was also an icon writer at Conway for 11 years and a Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed ceramics, oil painting, water painting and making kachina dolls. Florence is survived by her dearest, loving friend, Ray Fryer; her children, Wayne M. (Carol) Stewart of St. Petersburg, Fla., Kathleen J. (Leonard) Vincent of Westland, Larry P. (Sharon) Stewart of Shinnston, W. Va. and Jaime C. (Linda) Stewart of Whittemore; grandchildren, Matt (Nikki) Bartz, Steve (Lisa) Bartz, Randy (Kellena) Bartz, Tommy (Sherry) Stewart, and Nicole Stewart; step-grandchildren, Rick Aspen, Tammy Slyby, Jennifer Bradley and Sherry Patrell; great grandchildren, Ryan Bartz, Addison Stewart and Matthew Bartz II; step great grandchildren, Madison Royse, Katrina Adams, Noah Tyson, Brittany Maurice, Addison Maurice and Miaire Price; and several great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear friend, Bob Green, who helped her in so many ways over the years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Stock; brother, Raymond Johnstone; sister, Loretta Lochard; granddaughter, Jennifer Stewart; and niece, Judy Jennings. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, July 24 at 11 a.m. (instate at 10 a.m.) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oscoda. Interment will take place in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery in Tawas City. The family will welcome friends at Buresh Funeral Home in Oscoda on Wednesday, July 23 from 1 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church and condolences may be offered at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.
