Frank Craven, Jr.Charlotte - Frank LaVern Craven, Jr., 93, of Charlotte, passed away on November 10, 2017 in Lansing, MI. He was born on August 16, 1924 to Frank and Margaret (Shaw) Craven in Vernon, MI. He attended Evart High School, graduating in 1943. On June 6, 1946 he married Elaine Brethauer. Frank was an honorable man who had a big heart for family and friends. All who knew him recall how quick he was to share a smile when he met you. Frank was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. As a farmer all his life he continued as a gentleman farmer on their property outside of Charlotte. Frank was also a journeyman electrician who worked as a Primary Meter Man for Consumers Power for 381/2 years until his retirement in 1983. During the Charlotte Centennial Celebration he was active with the Consumers Power Centennial Contingent. He often commented he had a successful Career , and a successful retirement during which he would spend winters in Harlingen Texas, and Summers in Shingleton in the Michigan's Upper Peninsula. As his children were growing up he served as both Cub Master and Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 46. He also was a former member of the Charlotte Masonic Lodge. Frank was a jack of all trades. He was quite a strategic planner. When he built his home in the Upper Peninsula he laid out the plans, had all the materials loaded on a semi which delivered it to the drive and they built the house.
