Frederick Filhart, age 75, of Hale passed away at his home on Sunday, July 24, 2016 with his family at his side. He was born on Nov. 2, 1940 in Ferndale, MI to Gerald and Glenna (Amstutz) Filhart. He had moved to the Hale area from Ortonville in 1996. Fred was a member of the Tawas Masonic Lodge and American Legion Post in Hale; he loved gardening, driving his tractors and his Belgian horses. Fred served in the U.S. Army and Coast Guard. He married Linda Sanders in 1976 in Clarkston. Fred is survived by his wife, Linda, of Hale; children, Terry Filhart of Fla., Karen Filhart of Colorado, Robert Prell of Oregon, Genevieve (Corey Draves) Prell of Prescott and Gregory Filhart of Ohio; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren; brothers, Leland (Carrie) Filhart of Mt. Pleasant, Bill Filhart of Saginaw, Leonard Filhart of Coleman, Michael (Emily) Filhart of Bentley and Stanley (Tuyet) Filhart of Mesa, Ariz.; sister, Joyce LeForce of Pontiac; special niece and great niece Shawna and Cecilia Patton; and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Wayne Filhart; and daughter, Laura Filhart.Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, Aug. 5, 2016 at 11 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior at Buresh Funeral Home 121 S.
