Garrett Floyd Marshall 1995-2016Garrett Floyd Marshall, age 21, left this world suddenly on September 5th, 2016. He was born on July 22nd 1995 in Coldwater, MI. He was the beloved son of Eric and Marsha Marshall of Allen, MI and beloved brother of Ethan (Marissa) Marshall of Allen. He is also survived by loving grandmothers, Janice Baum of Jackson, MI and Darlene Marshall of Allen, MI. His special little buddy/nephew Liam, many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins and countless caring friends. He is preceded in death by grandfathers Floyd Baum and Van Marshall.Garrett graduated from Quincy High School. He desired to join the marines and was rejected due to physical limitations, but he carried on from there and lived quite an adventurous life that drew him to the great seas, which culminated to Dutch Harbor, Alaska in the Bering Seas. There he became a crew member on a codfish boat, casting pots and was soon to realize his dream of crab fishing. Garrett had a passion for music and he self-taught the bass guitar. Garrett learned at an early age how to make people laugh and smile. He loved the world of comedy and dropped a hint that he might someday become a comedy writer. His biggest love was for the many people he met along his pathway of life. Whatever their circumstances were, he desired to help them. Even if the only thing he could do was just to listen and to love and accept them.He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. September 16th at Hampton Funeral Home in Hillsdale, MI, and a graveside service at 11 a.m. September 17th at the Allen Cemetery in Allen, MI. with Fr. Adam Rick of Holy Trinity Parish officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Salvation Army or the American Foundation for Suicide prevention, (ie Out of the Darkness)"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
