Glenn Ison Ash, 92, departed from this world for Heaven on Sept. 6, 2015, of pancreatic cancer. God graciously answered his prayer to care for Mary, his wife of 67 years, until her death on May 6, 2015.He is survived by four daughters, Karen Susan, Linda and Rebecca; grandchildren Melinda, Christian, Amy, Joy, Calvin, Alex, Dennis, Leslie, Dean and Jason; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, H.K. and Malinda Ash, brother, Herbert Ash; and sister, Velvy Jacobsen.Glenn was born on Oct. 20, 1922, in Crandon, Wisconsin, and the family moved to Tenino, Washington, when he was a high school sophomore. After graduation, Glenn joined the U.S.
Army and served in the 43rd Infantry Division, Northern Luzon, Philippines.Glenn and Mary were marred on March 6, 1948, and shortly began Ash Motor Company in Tacoma, Washington, which later became Ash GMC. Glenn retired from the automobile business in 1974 and established Ash Arabians, a nationally known breeding farm.His greatest accomplishments in life, though, were furthering the cause of Christ. At Immanuel Baptist Church in Tacoma, he taught Sunday school, served as Sunday school superintendent and was on the school board at Life Christian School, Tacoma. He began a Wednesday Prayer Fellowship, which continues today He was a founding member of the Greater Tacoma Layman's Outreach organization. This group began sponsoring the annual Pierce County Prayer Breakfast in Tacoma. Glenn was the chairman of the 1983 Billy Graham Crusade, which was the first event in the new Tacoma Dome. Glenn also began the Annual Yuma Prayer Breakfast, and, upon moving to Prescott, Arizona, held monthly services at the Arizona Pioneer Home and thoroughly enjoyed leading the singing at his Sunday school class.Glenn loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and riding horses. He had a great love for the Green Bay Packers football team and attended many games at Lambeau Field, Green Bay, Wisconsin. He believed Vince Lombardi's quote, "God, family and the Green Bay Packers, in that order …."The family rejoices in the knowledge that he has passed the barrier of time as we know it and is forever with his Savior he so faithfully served for over 60 years.A celebration of his life will be held this Saturday, Sept. 12, at 11 a.m. at Willow Hills Baptist Church in Prescott.
