Harold D. Hess, age 94, of Tawas City died on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at Tawas St. Joseph Hospital in Tawas City. Harold was born on Aug. 26, 1916, in Omer to Henry and Anna (nee Loucks). He worked for many years in Bay City and Saginaw as a union pipe fitter. Harold also truly enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in East Tawas. On April 26, 1940, Harold married his beautiful wife, Leota (nee Davidson), and together they celebrated 70 wonderful years of marriage. Among his survivors are his wife, Leota; his daughter, Marilyn Wood of National City; one brother, Del Hess of Florida; grandchildren, Pam Tressler, Roger (Ronda) Wood, Rodney Wood, Andrew (Tracy) Hess, Karla (Cory) Burza, Duane Hess, Logan Hess, Christine (Michael) Woods, Robert (Michelle) Hess and Scott Hess; great-grandchildren, Shannon McElory, Cassandra Tressler, Geoffery, Charlie and R. Dalton Wood, Makayla Wood, Riley Winchell, Brittany (Troy) Inman, Brenna and Drew Hess, Amanda Selner, Alex and Aliesha Woods, Timothy, Brandon, Nick, Jacob, and Mara Hess; great-great-grandchildren, Austin, Hailee, Brady and Lillee; sister-in-law, Mable Hess; and many nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Gary L. and Harold D. Hess Jr.; one grandson, Gary Hess; eight brothers and three sisters. A memorial service was held on Saturday, Nov. 6, at Christ Episcopal Church in East Tawas with Fr. Daniel Cannon officiating. A burial followed in Wilber Township Cemetery.
