Irene Woods, age 91, of Hale died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011 at Bortz Health Care in Rose City.She was born on Feb. 8, 1920 in Mikado to Arthur and Minnie Lange. She met Henry Carl Woods on a blind date 67 years ago and married him on Feb. 21, 1940. She enjoyed her small lake home that Henry built for them when he retired from Ford Motor Company as an inspector. Irene also enjoyed playing the piano, accordion and violin. She would play these instruments at her brother's farm in Mikado where they would have home parties with family and friends.Irene was the youngest of 12 children. She is survived by her sisters, Elsie Clark of Alpena and Selma McMillen of Saginaw; brothers, Art Lange, Fritz Lange, Onnie Lange and Ed Lange, all of Mikado, and Mike Lange of Skokie, Ill.; and two daughters, Sally (Bill) Hurrelbrink of Westland and Judy Drury of Conway. She is also survived by her grandsons, Mark Hurrelbrink of Westland, James (Laurie) Drury of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Thomas Drury of Harbor Springs; and one great grandchild, Tai Jaxx Drury.Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 22 at the Hale Chapel of Buresh Funeral Home, 121 S. Washington with Rev. Rob Nordin officiating. Interment was in Esmond-Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to a local hospice of your choice.
