Jane M. Zimmerman (nee Socier) of East Tawas, formerly of Saginaw and Cheboygan, passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013 at the Tawas St. Joseph Hospital, age 84 years. Jane was born on March 6, 1929 in Saginaw to Clarence and Mable (nee King) Socier. She graduated from Saginaw General Hospital School of Nursing earning her bachelor's degree in 1950. She worked as a registered nurse in the Saginaw area for many years. Jane was a strong woman in her Lutheran faith, and will be always remembered for playing the piano and spending time outdoors in her garden. She married her best friend, Jack E. Zimmerman, on June 26, 1954 in Saginaw. Together, they spent 59 beautiful years of marriage. Jane is survived by her beloved husband, Jack E. Zimmerman of East Tawas; four loving sons, Edward B. Zimmerman of Mackinaw, Mark A. Zimmerman of Houston, Texas, Guy W. (Janet) Zimmerman of Bowling Green, Ohio and John S. Zimmerman of Kalamazoo; four grandchildren, Aaron, Emily, Rachael and Alex; two great grandchildren, Elijah and Oliver; one sister-in-law, Donna S. Wascher of Saginaw; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Jane was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Bow. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held.
