Jessie Ellen Morrison, age 81, a resident of Glennie and formerly of Bay City, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011. She was born on June 1, 1929, in Glennie. Jessie graduated from Oscoda Area Schools in 1946, where she was later employed as a teacher's aide and school secretary for 33 years. Jessie also worked at General Motors in Bay City, Lost Lake Woods Club and Ross' Restaurant in Glennie. She was very interested in her grandchildren and family. Jessie was a longtime member of the Glennie Lioness Club and Lott Baptist Church, where she was a pianist and Sunday school teacher in the 1950s and '60s. She spent her spare time raising gardens and canning in the summers and watching over many students September through June at River Road Elementary. Jessie also was a main advocate of "Jane's canoe rental" in Glennie. She put one husband and three daughters through college, all of whom became educators. Jessie is survived by her husband, Dr. Malcolm M. Morrison, whom she married in June of 1950 at Lott Baptist Church in Glennie. She is also survived by her children, Mary Ellen (Chris) Lovelace of Glennie, Jane Ann (Ken) Snage of Lake Orion and Martha Marie (Mark) Sarenius of Lake Orion; her grandchildren, Jennifer Elmer, Mary Megan Lovelace, Owen Lovelace, Alex (Danielle) Lovelace, Emily Lovelace and Kyle Snage; her great-grandchildren, Summer Lebel, Caitlin Lovelace and Carter Nelkie; and her great-great-grandchild, Jacques Lebel. Jessie was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Jane Garrett; and her grandchild, Jordan M. Snage. The family received friends on Saturday and Sunday at the Buresh Chapel in Oscoda. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 31, at Lott Baptist Church in Glennie with Pastor Michael VanZee officiating.
