Mahar, John Edward Known as "Jack" to his friends and "Pop" to his family, this beloved man passed away on June 20th, 2017. It was the day before his 78th birthday, at in Surprise, Arizona. Jack was born on June 21st, 1939 in Albany, New York. He was the son of William & Alice Mahar. In 1957, Jack enlisted in the US Army and served for 3 active years, followed by 3 years in the Reserve. He served as a PFC in the Light Weapons Infantry Division for our country. In 1960, Jack was married to the love of his life Vera Marro, also known as Dee Dee, and for the next 56 years they remained side by side. They moved from New York to Arizona in 1971 and together they raised 3 beautiful children: Kimberly, Lance and Jessica. Jack also leaves behind 4 grandchildren, as well as 4 great-grandchildren. He was a good man, a strong man, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it, and always with a smile. Jack went to school for HVAC, refrigeration and electrician training. He ran his own business but loved fishing in his spare time, going bowling, and cooking for his family. Holiday meals will never be the same without him. He also leaves behind many friends that he has made along the way, and he will forever be in our hearts. Rest peacefully Jackie Darling <3
