Joseph M. Casey Sr., 67, of Iron Mountain, Michigan, passed on May 26, 2021, at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
Joe was born on January 10, 1954, in Escanaba, Michigan, the son of John and Margaret (Bussineau) Casey. He was united in marriage to Patricia Kuehn of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, which lasted nearly 33 years. He served honorably for six years in the United States Army as an aircraft electrician and worked on helicopters, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He then continued his trade as a master electrician in a maintenance role for various companies throughout Wisconsin and the upper peninsula of Michigan, including Bay Shipbuilding, Econo Foods, and Grede Foundaries. He was a member of the American Legion in Iron Mountain. He loved standing at the helm of a hot grill with a cold beer, surrounded by family, friends and good music. He was a lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers and loved measuring his naps by laps of NASCAR.
Joe is survived by: his wife, Patricia Casey of Iron Mountain; two children, Joseph (Jo Carol) Casey Jr. of Mountain Lake Park, Maryland, and Julie Austin of Glasgow, Kentucky; four step-children, Pauline Miller of Iron Mountain, Michelle Harnack of Iron Mountain, Timothy (Donna) Miller of Appleton, Wisconsin, and Amy Wozniak of Iron Mountain; three grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Michael of Wells, Patrick (Mary) of Crivitz, Wisconsin, and Russell (Tina) of Gladstone; two sisters, Debbie (Rick) Wilson of Gladstone, and Sherri Schorr of Gladstone.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; one step-grandson; and one step-great-granddaughter.
Joe's wishes were not to hold any viewings or memorials, however there will be a private gathering of immediate family to honor and celebrate his life.
