Lillian "Betty" Day of Tawas City passed away Friday, Jan. 23, 2015 at the Iosco County Medical Care Facility, age 88 years. Betty was born on March 13, 1926 in Clare County to Eugene and Alta Orvis. She graduated high school from Beaverton High and continued her education at Michigan State University studying home economics. She married Robert Jr. Day on Aug. 31, 1947 and they celebrated 64 beautiful years of marriage until Bob's passing on Aug. 28, 2011. Betty worked as a stay at home mother raising their five children. She was a very devout Christian woman who was active at East Tawas Assembly of God Church in various ministries. Betty enjoyed reading and being outdoors, especially spending time gardening.She is survived by her children, Wayne (Betty) Day of Bay City, Ann (Dan) Royalty of St. Michael, Minn. Karen (Steve) Bacheler of Butler, Penn., Karol (Tim) Shedenhelm of Cuyahogua Falls, Ohio and Keith (Corrie) Day of Tawas City; one brother, Ron Orvis of Midland; two sisters, Arlene Cuddie of Gladwin and Frieda Bertsch of Tawas City; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Visitation will be held at Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at East Tawas Assembly of God Church at 2 p.m. with Reverend Timothy Pike officiating. Her family will welcome friends at the church on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service. Interment will take place in Tawas City Memory Gardens Cemetery. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution are asked to make a donation to East Tawas Assembly of God Church where she was a faithful member for 63 years.
