Marian M. Breznau, age 93, of Oscoda, died on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at home, peacefully, with her family by her side. Marian was born on Sept. 6, 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late John and Matilda Stead (nee Juen). Marian grew up in the Detroit area and married Hubert Breznau on May 20, 1950 in River Rouge. They raised eight children together. After retirement, they owned and operated the Tamarack Trail Resort in Greenbush from 1980-1990. Prior to that Marian worked as an executive secretary for the Detroit Free Press, American Red Cross and the war department during World War II. Marian spent her life devoted to her family and others. Marian was beloved by her family, her warmth, kindness and concern always let them know how much she loved them. Her positive, can do attitude was an inspiration to all that knew her. Marian was a devout Catholic, and volunteered for several Lutheran organizations, FISH, Helping Hands, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, her churches and anything where the cause was to help others. She was an avid reader, enjoyed shopping and was a loyal blood donor. Marian is survived by seven children; Sharon (Joseph) Czapiewski of Interlochen, Robert (Karyn) Breznau of Buena Vista, Colo., Kenneth (Belinda) Breznau of Anaheim, Calif., Kathleen Breznau of Fenton, Karen (Carl) Roesler of Linden, Mary Ann Vaughn of Oscoda and John (Barbara) Breznau of Fountain Valley, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and sister, Joan Korowin of Trenton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert in 2005; daughter, Victoria Yadlosky; sister, Norma Miner; and her brothers, Kenneth and John Stead. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 25 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Fenton. Place of interment will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
