Marjorie E. Mackowiak, age 97, of Hale passed away on Oct. 31, 2016 at Tendercare Tawas City. She was born on June 19, 1919 in Buffalo, N.Y. to Willard and Sadie (Marsh) Guyette. Marjorie met her husband, Art, in New York while bowling and married in 1967. After retiring they moved to Hale in 1976. She was a member of Hale First United Methodist Church where she was an active member. She joined the Hale Senior Center where she worked tirelessly as a teacher of gardening under community education. She was a member of the Hale Nuts and Bolts Band. She sang with her husband for many years travelling and entertaining all over the area, including nursing homes. She was a member of the Hale VFW Post 7435 Auxiliary. She loved flower gardening and working in her greenhouse.Marjorie is survived by her nieces, Joan Schwenk of New York and Mary Jane Guyette of New York; and nephew, Theodore Niemczyk of New York. She was preceded in death by her parents Willard and Sadie Guyette; husband, Art; brother, Willard; sisters, Winifred and Ginny; niece Patricia Niemczyk; and nephew, Richard Guyette.Visitation took place at Buresh Funeral Home in Hale on Wednesday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to noon. Services were at noon at the funeral home on Nov. 9 with Rev. David Goudie officiating.
