Mary Elizabeth (Squires) Nielson, age 90, died on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011 in Tawas City.She was born on Aug. 8, 1921 and raised in Arenac County.She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Nielson. Shortly after her marriage in 1945, she and "Bob" moved to Detroit. She was active at Lola Park Lutheran Church.Upon Robert's retirement in 1978, they moved back to the Nielson family farm in Arenac County. They became active at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Tawas City. She was a career homemaker and devoted Mother to her children, Richard (Susan) Nielson of Bloomfield Hills, Evelyn (David) Dinkgrave of Cincinnati, Ohio, Wayne (Carol) Nielson of Brighton, Linda (Greg) Vermillion of Howell and Gary (Sarah) Nielson of Cincinnati, Ohio. She will be missed by her 14 grandchildren (one deceased) and nine great grand children.Visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at noon with Pastor Johnathan Schnose officiating and interment to follow in Alabaster Township Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church or Lola Park Lutheran Radio Hour, 14750 Kinloch, Detroit, MI 48239.
