Phillip Andrew Fairbanks of East Tawas passed away on Monday, Aug. 8, 2011 at the Brian's House in Bay City, age 59. Phillip was born on May 24, 1952 in Frankfort to the Rev. Edward J. and Wilmetta R. (nee Goheen) Fairbanks. He graduated from St. Ignace High School with the class of 1971. Phillip was a former employee of the Iosco Medical Care Facility, Tendercare Nursing Home and the Party and Food Center in Oscoda. He will always be remembered for his true love of people, most especially elderly people. Phillip also enjoyed fishing, camping, all kinds of games, going on trips and spending time with his family and friends. He was also very musically gifted. Phillip played the accordion, the trumpet and he was a talented singer and whistler. He is survived by his loving mother, Wilmetta Fairbanks of East Tawas; four brothers, Jonathan (Karen) Fairbanks of East Tawas, Paul (Marianne) Fairbanks of Tawas City, Dennis (Karen) Fairbanks of Harrison and James (Nipa) Fairbanks of National City; eight nieces and nephews; many cousins; and two aunts. Phillip was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Edward J. Fairbanks in 2010; and all of his grandparents. A visitation for Phillip was held on Thursday at Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City. Funeral services were held on Friday, Aug. 12 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev.Lois Baker officiating. Interment was in Midland City Cemetery in Midland.
