Richard W. Britten Jr.Richard W. Britten Jr., known as Dick or GM, 69, of Battle Creek, died Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on March 28, 1947 the son of Richard W. Sr and Dorothy F. (Eisenhood) Britten in Battle Creek and was a 1965 graduate of Climax-Scotts High School. He served his country honorable for 4 years with the U.S. Air Force. He was employed by GM Company (Fisher Body) in Kalamazoo, retiring as a machine-setter in 2001.On May 18, 1968 Richard was united in marriage with Karen D. Pyatt in Battle Creek, she survives. In addition to his wife, Karen, Richard is survived by their three children, Ami (Brooks Vardeman) Britten of S. Carolina, Jon R. (Emily) Britten of Bronson, Jaime L. (Charles) Collins of Battle Creek; six grandchildren; four sisters, Judy Carpenter, Melanie (Larry) Sackrider, Linda (Ted) Metzger and Kathy Britten. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Vern Carpenter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, being outdoors and spending time with his family. A visitation is planned for 6-8 pm Friday, February 10th at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 105 Capital Ave. N.E. Battle Creek, Michigan 49017A funeral service in celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the funeral home with Rev. Robert G. Murihead officiating. Interment will follow at the W. Pennfield Hicks Cemetery with military honors.
