"Dick" Eberhard, 89, of Jackson, formerly of Battle Creek, passed away at his residence on Friday, June 30, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.He was born on September 3, 1927 in Wayne, Michigan to the late Estus L. and Dorothy M. (Richards) Eberhard.After graduating high school, Dick met the love of his life, Anna J. West, and eleven days later the couple were wed in Angola, Indiana on April 20, 1950. The two of them were inseparable for that sixty-seven years.Many will remember him for his business, Dick's Shoe Repair, in Battle Creek, which he owned and operated for over fifty-five years. Dick was a man of great faith and served several local congregations including being Sunday School Superintendent and a church elder for decades. His faith extended into his daily 3:00 am prayer time where he would pray for his family and friends. Dick had a love for people and never met a stranger. Dick was a fantastic boxer as a young man, winning the title of Golden Gloves in 1947. He enjoyed collecting coins and baseball cards, antiquing with his wife and time spent with his family.He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Donald Eberhard and a sister, Alice Hreha.Dick is survived by his loving wife, Anna Eberhard of Jackson, daughters, Sandra (Larry) Gerdel of Jackson and Kimberly Eberhard of Pinckney, Michigan, three grandsons; Ted (Paula) McDonald of Coloma, Jonathan McDonald of Jackson, Jeremy (Angela) McDonald of St. Joseph, six great-grandchildren; Preston, Christian, Miranda, Michael, Jeron and Emilie.A time of visitation will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 6pm-8pm at Christ Apostolic Church in Albion. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11am at the church with Rev. David Trammell and Rev. Jeff Waid, officiating. A private family committal service will be held at Battle Creek Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made in Dick's memory to Christ Apostolic Church, 503 N.
