Richard L. "Dick" Stanfield of National City, formerly of Gregory, age 73, passed away on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013 at Covenant Health Care in Saginaw. He was born on May 5, 1939 in Stockbridge, the son of Maynard "Tom" and Marguerite (Peek) Stanfield. He graduated from Stockbridge High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960. On April 26, 1959, he married G. Marie Jacobs at Plainfield United Methodist Church where he was a member for many years. Dick had worked as a lab technician for Warner Lambert Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1998. After retirement, Dick and Marie moved to National City where he enjoyed living on the lake, woodworking in his basement and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Dick is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marie; two children, Susanne (John) Twining of Stockbridge and Brian (Jodi) Stanfield of Gregory; one sister, Sharon (Richard) Lemorie of Howell; nine grandchildren, Andrew, Audrey, Alexander, and Adam Twining, Austin, Justin and Taiyler Stanfield and Ella and Claire Ashe; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Ellen Jacobs; and father-in-law, Duane Jacobs. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 11 a.m. from Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge, with Rev. Robert Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Plainfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Plainfield United Methodist Church or Iosco County Ambulance.
