Richard Otis Godley Jr., 90 passed away on Tuesday, August 11th, 2015 in Yuma Arizona. He was born on July 19th, 1925 in New Bern, North Carolina. Richard held a BS Engineering degree, Masters in Education and was a Certified LPN. Richard served 21 years in the Marine Corps as a pilot, 20 years as a weapons test engineer with the U.S. Army and 5 years as an LPN at Y.R.M.C. Richard had 19,845 volunteer hours logged at Y.R.M.C. when he passed. Richard is survived by his wife, children; grandchildren; great grandchildren and many dear friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brother and his son. A private family service is to be held at a later date at Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church, Dr. Darren Hawkins, Pastor.Hearing the call to Reveille, our decorated U.S. pilot got up, put on his flight suit and pinned on his Wings of Gold.. To his uniform he added the Eagle, Globe and Anchor emblems and required medals he had been awarded during his service to his country. He then strapped on his parachute and walked to his navy blue Corsair with his name on it, checked the tail number for 97127.
