Robert "Bob" Karl Foster of Whittemore, formerly of Oscoda and Standish, passed away Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 at Tendercare Nursing Home in Tawas City, age 90 years. He was born on Aug. 8, 1925 in Deep River Township to Robert E. and Eva (Losie) Foster. Bob served Iosco County in law enforcement as a police officer for many years. He was later promoted to Chief of Police for Oscoda Township. For a long time, Bob was very active in his community. He served as a chairman for Iosco County Board of Commissioners, Oscoda Township supervisor, and he served on the State Board of Mental Health, while also being involved in many other various state committees. Bob was also a successful independent business owner. He is survived by his two sisters, Thelma Stuttz and Esther (Dale) Poling, both of Michigan; two loving daughters, Kathy (Rick) Ferrebee of Sun City Center, Fla. and Shirley (Dan) Miccolis of Hendersonville, N.C.; two grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by two brothers, Jessie Foster and Charles "Terry" Foster. His family will welcome friends at Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City on Tuesday, Feb. 2 from 10 a.m. to noon for visitation. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday at noon at the funeral home with Deacon Mike Sadler officiating. Interment will take place in Sterling Cemetery.
