Robert "Bob" E. Short of Hale passed away Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015 at West Branch Regional Medical Center, age 80 years. Bob was born on Feb. 1, 1935 in Ogemaw County to Lafie and Lucy (Turland) Short. He was an entrepreneur in the Hale community, starting his own business "Bob's Autos and Parts" since 1963. He and his family worked very hard to develop the business and continue its success. Bob will always be remembered for his passion of hunting, farming and fishing. He loved people and the friendships he made over the years were so important to him. He married his wife and best friend, Lula Belle (Nichols) in Whittemore on Dec. 5, 1953. Together they celebrated 61 beautiful years of marriage. Bob is survived by his wife, Lula Belle Short of Hale; four children, Robert L. (Roxanne) Short of Hale, Debbie Short of Lupton, Martin (Joannie) Short of Hale and Jeffrey W. (Cheri) Short of Hale; eight brothers and sisters, Raymond Short, Pauline Inman, Arlene Loomis, George Short, Linda Allen, Allen Short, Milford Short and Lucille Stevens; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. Bob was preceded in death by a son, Duane Short; a grandson, Jacob Short; a great grandson, Joseph Short; his parents, Lafie and Lucy Short, and brothers and sisters, Eugene Short, Donald Short, Leonard Short, Alvin Short, Debbie Wardrop, Sharon Gosciniak and Marvin Short. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Buresh Funeral Home in Hale. Funeral services will held at the funeral home on Monday, March 2 at 11 a.m. Interment will take place in Esmond Evergreen Cemetery in Hale.
