Robert Ellis Brennan, age 80, a senior advisor to the D.M.C., died on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at his home in Oscoda. Robert was born on Dec. 20, 1929, in Jersey City, N.J., to Walter and Blanche (nee O'Riely) Brennan. After graduating from high school, he attended college and received his bachelor's degree with academic honors in business. Robert proudly served our country in the United States Air Force for 30 years, retiring in 1979 with an honorable discharge. During his service to our country, Robert received a Distinguished Service Medal in the Vietnam Conflict. Among his many interests in life, he truly enjoyed coin collecting, reading, cards, bowling, crosswords, wine tasting, family visits and enjoying his children and grandchildren. He was an active member of VFW No. 6466 in Harrisville. Robert is survived by his wife, Christina Elizabeth Brennan, to whom he married in Ridgewood, N.J., on Sept. 2, 1956. Together, they celebrated 53 years of marriage. He is also survived by his three loving children, Katherine (Bill) Goodin, Linda Sandlin and Robert (Catherine) Brennan; grandchildren, Robert Brennan II, Joseph Brennan, Christopher Brennan, John Burton, Nathan Burton, Christopher Burton, Kaitlin Sandlin and David Sandlin. He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Walter, John and George; and his parents, Walter and Blanche Brennan, who were immigrants from Cork Count, Ireland. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service with full military honors was conducted on Saturday, March 27, at Buresh Funeral Home in Oscoda with Pastor Rob Nordin officiating.
