Maher, sharon kay of Lake in the Hills, IL, formerly Elgin, IL, Clarkston, and Wyoming, IL; passed away at 2:15 p.m., Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL.She was born on April 17, 1938 in Bradford, IL to Gilbert and Bernadine Hoofnagle Hall. She married John Joseph Maher on November 28, 1959 in Wyoming, IL. He passed away on May 20, 2001 in Clarkston, MI. Sharon was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mary Colgan; and brother-in-law, Charles Daniel Puffer. She is survived by her children, Cynthia (Jay) Rasmussen of Carpentersville, IL., Brian (Debra) Maher of Birmingham, MI, and Christopher Maher of Northville, MI; six grandchildren, Justin Rasmussen, Mackenzie and Clare Maher, and Riley, Brogan, and Keagan Maher; and two sisters, Cheryl Puffer of Ozark, MO and Julie Plotner of Dalton, OH. Sharon is a graduate of Bradley University in Peoria. She last worked as a nurse for Dr. Kugia in Elgin for many years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Huntley, IL. Sharon loved her grandchildren, gardening, interior design, travel and Florida. Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2016, at St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church in Wyoming. Fr. John Cyr and Fr. Braden Maher will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Haskell-Hott Funeral Home in Wyoming. Burial will be in St. Dominic Cemetery in Wyoming.
