Tammy passed away peacefully at Advantage Living Center after a long and happy life. She was born in Detroit, MI to Bernice and Claude Sims, shortly after they relocated from Alabama.
In her early years, Tammy was an over-achiever. She attended Mumford High School at age 15 and was forced to attend Ferndale High School because she excelled and would have graduated too early. She ultimately graduated at age 17.
An entrepreneur and jack-of-all-trades, Tammy is survived by her husband, Gregory, and their children: Gregory, Keyuntae, Jonathon, Earlyne, Claude and Claudia. She also leaves to her honor her memory the Sims family.
Anyone that knew Tammy knew she could be found at any bingo hall any day of the week. She would eventually be diagnosed with blindness and be forced to use dialysis due to kidney failure.
Her last days were spent being spoiled by her loving family, playing bingo, taking trips to the casino, going out to dinner and shopping. And if you asked her why she was out in her condition she'd tell you, "Just because I'm blind, don't mean I can't go shopping, go out to eat, or count my money!" Her wisdom, drive, and "someway-it-will-get-done" attitude, will never fade. Gone, but never forgotten!
I guess it’s time for me to say goodbye now so, ready or not, here I go! TAMMY, you came in my life to my already made family because I had 4 kids, and you made them yours. It worked out fine. I remember meeting you March 21, 1988 at a party. And I was nervous to talk to you. So nervous that when we exchanged phone numbers I kept mine and gave you back yours. You thought I didn’t want to talk to you but I just didn’t notice I was still holding mine. Or the second time I saw you, when you were coming up to the stage and I told you that I could come down to you, and ended up falling off the stage and busting my head. Literally, "I fell for you," and no matter how clumsy, talkative and slow as I was, you stuck with me. I will never forget that. I’m happy to say I ADORED you for 29 years and 6 days. That’s 10,591 days, 254,184 hours, or 15,251,040 seconds that we stuck by each other's side. Through thick and thin, for better or for worse, we did it all together. I love you my Bootsy. Until we meet again...
Your Husband,
Greg
