Theda J. Goodrich, age 86, of Lupton, formerly of Prescott, Norway, Mich. and Bradenton, Fla., a retired bank teller, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013 at her home in Lupton. She was born on June 21, 1927 in Whittemore to Charles and Lena (Fuerst) Chipps. She worked for many years as a clerk in her father's grocery store in Prescott. She married Harlow Gillings and they had two children, Gary and Kaye. They divorced in 1958. She then married Jack P. Goodrich in 1962 and they moved to Flint where they made their home until 1974 when they moved to Florida. She worked as a bank teller until she retired in 1989. She moved to Rifle Lake in Lupton in 1997. In 1998 she moved to Norway and resided there with Jack Osborne until her health failed her and she came back home to Lupton. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, knitting, crocheting, reading and loved to travel.Theda is survived by her children, Gary (Barbara) Gillings of Whittemore and Kaye (Roger) Rasbury of Englewood, Fla.; grandchildren, Cary (Arlene) Gillings of Midland, Keith (Dori) Gillings of Traverse City, Kris Gillings of Whittemore, Shannon Rasbury of Englewood, Fla. and Chad (Tinson) Rasbury of Sealy, Texas; great grandchildren, Ian, Laura, Jennifer, Megan, Andrew, Tyler, Logen, Sydney, Morgyn and Cole; nephews, Bob (Cindy) Nichols of Prescott, Chuck Nichols of Prescott and Rich (Pat) Nichols of Katy, Texas; niece, Penny Nichols of West Branch; longtime friend and companion, Jack Osborne of Norway; aunt, Alberta Doty of Tawas City; and sister-in-law, Elaine (Frank) Maday of Essexville; cousin, Tim Eymer of Ponte Vedra, Fla.; and cousin, Eleanor Goodrich of Flint, who was like a sister to her; Harlow Gillings of Sterling, the father of her children; and many cousins in the Fuerst side of the family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lena Chipps; sister, Norma Nichols; and husband, Jack Goodrich.Services were held on Monday, Sept. 30 at Whittemore United Methodist Church with Rev. Brenda K. Klacking officiating. Interment was in Richland Township Cemetery in Prescott. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Helping Hands of West Branch.
