Thomas Taranski, age 68, of Oscoda and formerly of Detroit passed away Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at Tendercare Nursing Home in Tawas City. Thomas was born on Dec. 30, 1941, in Hamtramck to John C. and Stephanie (nee Ferenkiewicz) Taranski. He graduated from Pershing High School in 1960, then he enlisted to serve our country in the United States Air Force, where he served for 23 years, retiring honorably in 1986. Thomas had many interests in life, however, he truly enjoyed playing and watching sports, especially hockey and baseball. He also found enjoyment in fishing. Thomas married his wife, Waree, on Aug. 25, 1975, in Thailand and she survives him. He is also survived by his children, Waroon (Kewalin) of Chicago, Marty (Suzanne) of Memphis, Tenn., Donna (John) and Kim (Mark), all of Apopka, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Raina, River, Ariel, Brittany, Joseph, Tasha, Stephanie, David and Jonathan; and several cousins. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, John and Stephanie Taranski. Visitation was held on Saturday, Oct. 2, at Buresh Funeral Home in Oscoda, prior to funeral services.
