Wilma Lucile (Loh) AndersonWilma Lucile (Loh) Anderson went to Heaven on July 4, 2017. She was born on October 14, 1922 in Convis Township to Bruno and Blanche (Carver) Loh.She graduated from Marshall High School in 1940. Wilma graduated from Battle Creek Community Hospital's Nursing Program as a Registered Nurse in 1943, and followed that education up by taking a course in O.R. at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.She was employed at John Hopkins in the Emergency Room as a head nurse for a year. At the end of that year she moved to South Bend and was an industrial nurse for the rest of World War II at Bendix Aviation.When the war ended Wilma was hired as a Tuberculosis Clinic Nurse for the city of South Bend to work in case finding and follow up on those cases for both the city and the school system. Three years later she moved to San Francisco to marry her wartime boyfriend, John F. Anderson. They were married on March 28, 1948. The marriage ended in divorce after 5 years and two children. While in San Francisco she worked at Mary's Help Hospital. She left there and moved back to Marshall in 1958. She was an RN at Oaklawn Hospital for a brief time afterwards until she became a public health nurse for Calhoun County. At the same time Wilma studied and worked towards her BS degree, which she earned from Western Michigan University in 1978. She worked as a public health nurse in the Albion area, and the last 8 years of her career she was the school nurse for the Albion Public Schools. She retired in 1987. Wilma was an active member of the Mary Marshall Chapter of the Daughters Of The American Revolution, Michigan Retired School Personnel, Marshall United Methodist Church, Beta Sigma Phi, and Senior Travel Club. After her retirement Wilma traveled extensively around the world, camping and attending anything musical. She volunteered her time to drive cancer patients to their treatment appointments. She is survived by her son Jim Anderson and his wife Kathy of Marshall, daughter Kay Anderson Lastrico and her husband Bob of Lafayette, CA, grandson Derek Anderson and fiancé Natalie Miller of Marshall, and granddaughter Amy Anderson of Marshall.Friends may call at the Craig K. Kempf Family Funeral Home, Marshall Chapel on Thursday, July 13, from 5PM to 8PM . A celebration of Wilma's life will be held at the Marshall Chapel on Friday, July 14, at 1:30PM. Interment of her cremated remains will be at Oakridge Cemetery.Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Marshall United Methodist Church or .
